Tips lead to arrest of man accused of stealing from Castle Pines massage business

DENVER (KDVR) — Law enforcement said that a man suspected of stealing from a Castle Pines massage business in September is now under arrest.

On Sept. 17, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office shared surveillance photos of a man suspected of a theft from a massage business in the 300 block of Village Square in Castle Pines. The agency said that the suspect claimed to be visiting from New Mexico and requested a massage.

Before the service began, the suspect allegedly asked to use a restroom, but instead entered a private room and stole about $6,000 in cash from the owner’s purse before quickly leaving. The sheriff’s office said that a similar theft occurred in Northglenn in July and could involve the same suspect.

On Thursday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it had arrested Robbie Lucero, 50, of Englewood, in connection with the case.

“Thanks to the outstanding efforts of Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, the sharp work of our Impact Team, and some good old-fashioned detective work by our lead detective, we were able to identify this theft suspect,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly in a release. “We also want to thank the community—your tips and continued support truly make a difference.”

According to court records, Lucero was given a $75,000 cash or surety bond, which he posted on Tuesday. He’s scheduled to next appear in court on Nov. 4 for a return filing of charges hearing.
