Woman found shot, dead in a vehicle; person of interest in custody: Brighton police



DENVER (KDVR) — The Brighton Police Department is investigating after finding a woman dead in a car on Friday morning with an apparent gunshot wound.

The agency said the homicide investigation began just after 9:15 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of North 6th Avenue, where officers were called to investigate an abandoned vehicle. The area is a residential neighborhood north of Bridge Street and east of Highway 85.

Officers, upon arriving at the scene, found a dead woman estimated to be about 30 years old with an apparent gunshot wound.

The police department said that there is no threat to the public “as a person of interest has been identified and is currently in custody on unrelated charges.”

The woman’s identity is being withheld until her next-of-kin can be notified, and her identity is in the care of the Adams County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation was descibed as being in the “very early stages,” and the agency said that the investigation is ongoing.
